Spike Stent has worked with a proper who’s who of musical talent in his career as a producer and mixing engineer. Beyoncé, U2, Madonna, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, Frank Ocean, Lady Gaga, Coldplay… the list goes on.
He’s at the level where he probably doesn’t need to worry about AI-powered mixing tools nabbing his clients. But as it turns out, Stent is turning himself into one of those tools with a startup called Spike AI.
It’s been announced this week and is currently in beta, with a full launch planned for the first quarter of 2025. It’s a plugin for artists’ and producers’ DAWs, powered by an AI model trained on Stent himself.

It isn’t his first dabble with AI: he worked on the recent Beatles release that used stem-separation technology.
Spike AI is a family affair: one of its co-founders is Stent’s son Joshua, who has worked in A&R. Music manager Henry Ramsey is the other co-founder. We’ll find out more about how the business model works closer to launch.
